The Transparency Act

This is Brimer's report on due diligence assessments under the Transparency Act.

Organization and operating areas

Brimer, a subsidiary of the ENTEC Group, operates from Kvamsøy and Ulsteinvik.
The company is a technology and production company with expertise and activity within:

  • production of complete tanks, vessels and pools built in composite and other materials, and parts related to this.
  • equipment for land-based aquaculture
  • fish processing/industry
  • Landbased Aquaculture
  • process industry
  • turnkey contractor for water and wastewater treatment
  • project management
  • service and maintenance
  • development of concept and products

The company is divided into the following organizational areas: Product development, sales and marketing, project, technical, production and assembly, as well as finance, HR and HSEQ. The heads of department in the value chain report to the CEO. The CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board in Brimer. The board consists of the chairman and one board member.

Prudence assessment

The implementation of the due diligence in Brimer is based on the OECD's model for due diligence for responsible business conduct:

(1) Embed accountability in policies and management systems. (2) Identify and assess negative impacts/damage based on own operations, supply chain and business relationships. (3) Stop, prevent or mitigate negative impacts/damage. (4) Monitor implementation and results. (5) Communicate how the impact has been managed.
(6) Provide or collaborate on restoration and compensation where required.

The model has six steps that describe how the company works towards more responsible and sustainable business practices, and provides a holistic approach to due diligence as a method.

Policies and procedures

ENTEC The Group's ethical guidelines apply to all employees in the Group, including subsidiaries, and shall form the basis for all professional practice, regardless of where they work in the Group. Brimer employees shall show respect for the interaction between technology/professional practice and human values, and contribute to openness about the consequences of technological/professional solutions for society, the environment and individuals. A precautionary approach is sought in all work.

Employees at Brimer shall strive for honesty, openness and correct and good behavior towards employees, customers, suppliers, competitors, business associates and authorities. The company and its employees shall ensure that they do not contribute to human rights violations and are aware of their social responsibility.

The company recognizes its responsibility to promote and respect fundamental human rights and decent working conditions in the production of goods and provision of services.

The Supplier Conduct Principles have been established to ensure safe working conditions throughout Brimer 's supply chain, ensuring that workers are treated with respect and dignity, impartially and fairly, that business operations are environmentally sound, and that operations are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized principles and relevant international conventions (including the UN Global Compact, ILO conventions, OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and UN Conventions on the Rights of the Child). Brimer expects all its suppliers to act in accordance with the Supplier Conduct Principles and obtains written confirmation of this.

Brimer conducts annual due diligence of its value chain to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for actual and potential negative impacts of its own operations, supply chain and the operations of its business partners.

Results from due diligence assessments

Based on the company's due diligence assessment, it has been identified that there is some risk of negative impacts on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions in the supply chain.

Potential negative impact on fundamental human rights and other working conditions, we have identified that the greatest risk relates to suppliers with production in countries with a higher risk of human rights violations.

As far as Brimer has assessed, no objectionable conditions relating to fundamental human rights and decent working conditions have been identified in the supply chain used by the company.

Initiated measures to stop or limit risk

To minimize any negative impact, Brimer works closely with partners, suppliers and customers through site visits and supplier audits, and requires documentation of joint commitment to comply with basic environmental requirements, human rights and other working conditions.

As a member of the industry cluster Norwegian Circular Materials Technology (NCMT), Brimer actively contributes to the development of sustainable solutions within polymer and composite.

If the documentation from the suppliers does not satisfy the safeguarding of fundamental human rights and decent working conditions, it may have consequences for the contractual relationship with Brimer.

Brimer will strive and influence suppliers that do not provide satisfactory documentation, to minimize risk and repair any violations committed to avoid further negative consequences.
